Another New Year’s Day comes to pass
Filled with sadness and melancholy.
Love and laughter flee as the season nears.
Pain and loneliness take their place.
Another New Year’s Eve leaves its mark
On a young girl’s scared and broken heart.
Joy and happiness fill it not.
Instead heartache and sorrow consume.
Another year will end with the same
A tear-filled night of misery.
Not the gay time it should be,
Spent with friends of the truest sorts.
Another year will begin the same way
Welcomed with cries, not of a light heart,
But of one laden down with grief,
With no hope, but another year alone.
