Once broken wings, now mended.
Tattered and torn, broken and beaten,
They once were, as I wandered alone.
They drug along the ground behind me
Like great weights, holding me down.
I struggled to continue to go on.
Lurking in the dark, deserted alleys
Of a shattered and broken heart.
But there sunlight shone in the distance.
I reached out, stumbling toward it.
But crumbling to my knees I fell short.
Out of the light, a hand reached out to me.
I took the hand and felt new strength.
Looking again I saw it was not the sun,
But the intense glow of your love
You then took me in your protecting arms,
My mended wings enveloped us in our embrace,
I knew then, I’d never want for sun again.
