He came to me by cover of night
Upon the back of a galloping steed
Bravely, he forged the deep moat
And climbed up the tall towers
That had overwhelmed most others
He took the steps two at a time
As he made his way to my side.
Any other would have broke down
The doors to his lady’s inner chambers
Instead he carefully picked the lock
So tenderly, I did not notice
Till he had already entered my lair
I tried to fight him at first
For I was afraid of love’s sting
But when he held me in his arms,
Tightly in a lover’s embrace,
I knew then that he was my knight,
My savior, the Champion of my heart.
